SSC syllabus for chsl 2025 -Tier I &II
SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) is a national-level exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for recruitment to posts like:
- Lower Division Clerk (LDC)
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
- Postal Assistant (PA)
- Data Entry Operator (DEO)

SSC CHSL exam pattern 2025
The SSC CHSL exam is conducted in three stages—Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 (if applicable). Tier 1 is an online objective test consisting of four sections: General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General Awareness, each carrying 25 questions for 50 marks. The total duration is 60 minutes.
Tier 2 is a descriptive paper conducted in pen-and-paper mode, where candidates have to write an essay and a letter/application within 60 minutes. Tier 3, applicable to certain posts like Data Entry Operator (DEO), is a skill or typing test to assess candidates’ typing speed or data entry efficiency. All stages are qualifying in nature, and final selection is based on performance in Tier 1 and Tier 2, subject to qualifying the skill/typing test.

SSC Syllabus for CHSL Tier I -2025 Download Pdf
The Tier 2 of SSC CHSL 2025 is a descriptive exam designed to test a candidate’s writing skills in either English or Hindi. This paper includes Essay Writing (200–250 words) and Letter/Application Writing (150–200 words), and is conducted in offline mode (pen and paper).
The total duration of the exam is 60 minutes, with a qualifying nature—marks obtained are considered in the final merit. In addition to this, candidates applying for posts like DEO, LDC, JSA, PA/SA will have to undergo a Skill Test or Typing Test, depending on the post. The skill test for DEOs requires a data entry speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour, while the typing test demands a typing speed of 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi. Though qualifying in nature, performing well in Tier 2 is crucial for final selection.
